MSC APPOINTS MARKETING MANAGER, TRANSPACIFIC MANAGER

   Mediterranean Shipping Company (USA) has appointed Francesco Pansardi marketing manager, based in New York City and Tom Hughes national trade manager, transpacific service, based in Los Angeles.

   Pansardi joined MSC in 1998. Prior to that, he had worked with Henkel Cosmetic Italia as product manager. In his new post as marketing manager for MSC (USA), Pansardi is responsible for monitoring and evaluating company’s trade lanes and performances, as well as conducting market research and forecasting trends. He will also be responsible for marketing communications including advertising and sales support programs.

   Hughes has been with MSC since 1998. His former positions with the carrier were as line manager in New Orleans, and as district manager in Oakland, and then in Los Angeles. Prior to joining MSC, Hughes worked with D.E. Turncliff & Associates, Ltd., MSC’s former New Orleans agent. In his new position as national trade manager for the transpacific service, Hughes is responsible for overall management of the company’s transpacific service in the U.S.

   MSC (USA) has also appointed Halina Rosa as trade manager, East Coast, for the company’s transpacific service, based in New York City, and Juan Wilson as credit manager, also based in New York City.

   MSC will take delivery of 10 new 6,700-TEU containerships, starting from June.
