MSC, CMA CGM, MAERSK EXPRESS INTEREST IN LE HAVRE TERMINALS

Mediterranean Shipping Co., CMA CGM and Maersk Sealand have expressed an interest in using future container terminals that will be developed in Le Havre under the French port’s Port 2000 expansion plan.

After completion of the Port 2000 program, several very large containerships and their feeders will be able to call at the same time along long linear berths.

The port of Le Havre said that it has made some progress working our three draft agreements with Mediterranean Shipping Co., CMA CGM and Maersk Sealand.

“These agreements are essential for the development and future of the port of Le Havre,” a port spokesman said.

The port of Le Havre plans to double its container-handling capacity by 2010. Work on the Port 2000 expansion will begin next month and the port schedules to commission the first four new container berths of the project in 2004.
