MSC hikes Europe/South Africa rates
Mediterranean Shipping Co. said it will apply a general rate increase on cargo moving from North Europe to South Africa.
The company said it was taking the action “in view of our contractual obligations and the fact that the rate restoration increase that took place in September 2009 was not accepted.”
The GRI is $200 per 20-foot container and $400 per 40-foot container. The GRI applies to all cargo out of the Northwest Continent, U.K and Ireland, Scandinavian countries, and Portugal, to all South African, Namibian and Mozambique main MSC ports, the company said.
