MSC hikes Europe/West Africa rates
Liner carrier Mediterranean Shipping Co. said Monday it will seek to raise rates from northern Europe to West Africa in two phases starting from September.
On Sept. 1, the line will hike rates by '85 per 20-foot container and '155 per 40-foot container from U.K. ports, and 100 euros per 20-foot container and 180 euros per 40-foot container from continental northern European ports.
A second increase will be sought Oct. 15 of '65 per 20-foot container and '120 per 40-foot container from U.K. ports, and 75 euros per 20-foot container and euros 135 per 40-foot container from continental northern European ports.
MSC also said it is raising rates on shipments from Adriatic ports to eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea port effective Sept. 1. The increase is $50 per container in dollar-denominated trades and 50 euros per container in euro-denominated trades.
