MSC releases other Golden Gate Service changes

   Mediterranean Shipping Co. has announced other changes to its Golden Gate Service, follow news it has revised the service to offer a direct connection from the U.S. East Coast to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

   MSC said the service will offer direct calls at the port of Norfolk and employ 12 vessels averaging 6,050 TEUs of capacity. As part of the change, the ports of Savannah and Port Everglades will no longer be included in the port rotation of the Golden Gate Service.

   The new port rotation is Shanghai, Ningbo, Chiwan, Yantian, Singapore, Salalah, Suez Canal transit, New York, Baltimore, Norfolk, Freeport (Bahamas), Suez Canal transit, Jeddah, Colombo, Singapore, Chiwan and Hong Kong.

   The company said “this service development will provide comprehensive cover from all key ports in Asia to the U.S. East Coast market, as well as very competitive transit times.”

   The company said this change will be effective with the sailing of the MSC Marta, departing from Shanghai on Dec. 10.
