MSC revamps Central America service

Four vessels were added to the newly named Central America Express.    MSC has revamped its Freeport/Central America service, renaming it the Central America Express and adding calls to New Orleans, Freeport, Texas, Puerto Limon and Cristobal. This is MSC’s inaugural call to Freeport, Texas.
   Under the old name, the service operated one vessel on a 14-day rotation calling Port Everglades, Freeport, Bahamas, Puerto Barrios, Puerto Cortes and Port Everglades.
   Four vessels were added to the newly named Central America Express, allowing rotation time to increase from 14 days to 35 days.
   With total vessel capacity increasing 655 percent, from 1,730 TEUs to 11,326 TEUs, total average vessel capacity increased 51 percent, from 1,730 TEUs to 2,611 TEUs.
   The new port rotation is Puerto Cortes, Puerto Barrios, New Orleans, Freeport, Texas, Puerto Cortes, Puerto Barrios, Puerto Limon, Cristobal, Port Everglades, Freeport, Bahamas and Puerto Cortes.
