MSC starts Israel/Russia service

Swiss liner carrier Mediterranean Shipping Co. will start an express service Thursday between Egypt, Israel, Turkey and the Russian Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, according to Israeli maritime news outlet Port2Port.

   The service has a rotation of Alexandria, Ashdod, Istanbul and Novorossiysk, and will be operated with two MSC 1,650-TEU vessels, with 300 positions for reefer containers. Transit time from Israel to Novorossiysk is four to five days.

   The service is intended to meet high demand for fresh agriculture produce by the Russian market.
