In 2007, the Port of Salalah handled 2.6 million TEUs and 2.8 million tons of bulk and general cargo at its terminals. The port is managed and operated by A.P. Moller – Maersk subsidiary APM Terminals and is a joint venture between the Danish group, the government of Oman, and other Omani investors.
The port plans to increase its annual container capacity to about 6 million TEUs by mid-2009.
