MSC to impose peak season surcharge
Mediterranean Shipping Co. said last week it is implementing a peak season surcharge on Aug. 15 on all shipments from the Far East to the U.S. East and West coasts.
The surcharge for cargo and intermodal shipments moving through East Coast ports is $320 per 20-foot dry container, $400 per-40 foot dry container and $450 per 40-foot high-cube container.
The surcharge for cargo and intermodal shipments moving through West Coast ports is $400 per 20-foot dry container, $500 per 40-foot dry container and $563 per 40-foot high-cube container.
The surcharge covers the Far East countries of Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam.
