MSC to increase capacity in transpacific

   Mediterranean Shipping Co. will introduce from March five larger 6,750-TEU ships on its weekly transpacific New Orient Express, adding about 195,000 TEUs in annual one-way capacity to the trade.

   The New Orient Express has deployed five vessels averaging 3,000 TEUs.

   At the same time, MSC will add a call at the Chinese port of Yantian to the rotation, which will become: Yantian, Shanghai, Ningbo, Tokyo, Long Beach, Busan, Qingdao and back to Yantian.

   The vessel “MSC Michaela” will start the revised rotation with the larger ships when it departs Yantian March 3.
