MSC, WEC Lines take slots on new Montreal/Europe loop

The Montreal Port Authority has confirmed that Mediterranean Shipping Co. and WEC Lines are both taking slots on Holland Maas Container Line’s Caribbean Service which has just added calls at the Canadian port.

There has been recent speculation that MSC will cease its involvement on the weekly Montreal/Europe CANEX service with Maersk Sealand and P&O Nedlloyd, although its current schedules still shows the service. For Rotterdam-based WEC Lines, the agreement with Holland Maas Container Line gives it an entry into the transatlantic market.

The Caribbean Service has an approximate sailing frequency of every 10 days and uses four ships of about 900 TEUs. The new port rotation is: Antwerp, Bilbao, Montreal, Freeport, Caucedo, Havana, Freeport, Montreal and back to Antwerp.
