MSC, Zim to raise Asia/Europe rates

MSC, Zim to raise Asia/Europe rates    Liner carriers Mediterranean Shipping Co. and Zim have announced planned rate increases on the Asia/Europe trade.
   MSC said Tuesday it will seek rate increases of $300 per TEU for cargo moving westbound on four of its services from Asia to Europe.
   The increase is effective Jan. 1 and covers origin ports in China, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia and destination ports in Northern Europe, Scandinavia, the Mediterranean and Black seas. The services affected by the price increase are Silk, Lion, Dragon and Tiger.
   Zim said Wednesday it will raise rates on shipments from Asia (including the Indian Subcontinent) to all parts of Europe on Jan. 1.
   The increase, $250 per TEUs, is applicable to destination ports in the Mediterranean, Israel, the Black Sea and Northern Europe, the line said.
