N.C. lawmaker introduces bill to improve national infrastructure

Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., last Thursday introduced the Revamping American Infrastructure Act of 2017, legislation that would to remove outdated regulatory obstacles and encourage the use of technology, according to the congressman.    U.S. House Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., last Thursday introduced the Revamping American Infrastructure Act of 2017 (H.R. 2714).
   The bill is designed to remove outdated regulatory obstacles and encourage the use of the most cost-effective and safest technologies possible to modernize the nation’s infrastructure, Meadows’ office said. Under H.H. 2714, the U.S. Department of Transportation would be required to review its existing regulations and create a strategy to replace outdated and unnecessary regulations with outcome- and performance-based standards.
   Cosponsors of the bill include Reps Jason Lewis, R-Minn.; Thomas Massie, R-Ky; Louie Gohmert, R-Texas; Mark Sanford, R-S.C.; James Sensenbrenner Jr., R-Wis.; Ted Budd, R-N.C.; Dave Brat, R-Va.; Raul Labrador, R-Id.; and Gary Palmer, R-Ala.
