N.J. business incentives may come with strings attached

Incentives given to businesses that want to locate in New Jersey may find more strings attached in the future because of a recent decision by MSNBC to leave gritty Secaucus for digs in Manhattan’s Rockefeller Center.

   The cable TV company’s decision has some New Jersey legislators steamed, and they are considering forcing firms to give back incentives or tax breaks if they don’t follow through with claims that they were going to create jobs and stay in the state.

   The Associated Press quoted State Sen. Shirley Turner as saying incentive programs need to a proviso to make sure companies fulfill agreements they make when they receive such guarantees.
