N.Y./N.J. port authority to vote on toll hike Friday The board of commissioners for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is scheduled to vote Friday on plans to raise bridge and tunnel tolls.
   Under the plan, first presented in November, tolls on the agency's four bridges and two tunnels that connect New Jersey with Manhattan and Staten Island would climb from $6 to $8 dollars. Tolls are only collected as vehicles move from New Jersey to New York.
   Truck tolls vary by size, but would increase by similar amounts.
   Toll increases are part of a plan by the agency to boost its annual budget to $5.9 billion in 2008, up from an estimated spend of $5.2 billion in 2007.
   The agency also wants to boost tolls on its PATH commuter railroad from $1.50 to $2.00.
