Napolitano to meet WCO chief
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano will discuss a range of issues related to cross-border criminal and terrorist activity during a visit to Europe and the Middle East Nov. 2-8, the department announced.
In Belgium, Napolitano will meet with members of the European Parliament and Belgian officials as well as World Customs Organization Secretary General Kunio Mikuriya to discuss multilateral efforts to combat smuggling and strengthen risk-based cargo screening.
She will meet with counterparts in Denmark on transportation security, human trafficking and other issues. The main topic in Spain is data protection and criminal information sharing.
In the United Arab Emirates, Napolitano will discuss transportation and maritime security among other topics.
She concludes her trip in the United Kingdom, where she is scheduled to meet domestic security ministers from several European countries.
The trip is her third to Europe and second to the Middle East since taking office in January.
