Navigil aims for intelligent track and trace

   Navigil has unveiled a versatile white-label wireless tracking device that it says can be programmed for a variety of track-and-trace uses including personal safety, on-board diagnostics, fleet management, vehicle black boxes, and insurance-related telematics.
   The company, which is a manufacturer of programmable GNSS tracking devices, said its new Navigil TD230 device is small and consumes very little power so it lasts longer.
   One area Navigil hopes its TD230 takes off is in its decision engine. Most tracking devices on the market continuously send out a large amount of raw data for back-end processing, while the TD230 waits for some pre-set actions or checkpoints and then sends out the information it is told is relevant.
   Navigil also offers a software development kit so that customers can fully customize the devices. It also supports over-the-air updates of firmware, parameters, and system scripts.
  “Intelligent tracking leaves fewer things to fortune,” said Matti Räty, Navigil’s president and chief executive officer. “In-device processing enables cost-efficient provision of solutions that make use of multi-dimensional geo-fencing and adaptive reporting granularity.”
   Evaluation kits for the device will become available in October and the device is expected to be commercially available in November.
