The implementation is aimed at streamlining current operations and preparing for the implementation of N4 for the new OOCL-leased Middle Harbor terminal under construction in Long Beach.
Navis had severe problems with an implementation at the Maher facility in New Jersey in July — issues that caused congestion and forced diversions to other New York/New Jersey terminals before eventually being resolved.
LBCT, however, is an existing customer of Navis, migrating from its SPARCS Express product to N4.
Anthony Otto, president and chief executive officer at LBCT, said the migration now “provides us with the critical technology foundation and implementation experience needed to ensure an efficient N4 go-live at the new Middle Harbor Terminal site in early 2015. TOS implementations are often a complex undertaking involving the integration of multiple systems into one overall solution. At Pier F, we were able to minimize any disruption to our existing operations and the team gained valuable experience in leveraging the new technology.”
