Navis ties up Georgia DC software deal with Cal Cartage
Oakland-based terminal and yard management software developer Navis said Thursday that California Cartage Co. has begun using Navis’ yard management system, DC Flow, to streamline the flow of goods from the Georgia Port Authority Cal Cartage customers — some of the world’s largest retail chains.
Installation of the system took four weeks at Cal Cartage’s cross dock distribution centers in Savannah.
Navis said in a statement that Long Beach, Calif.-based Cal Cartage chose Navis partially based on an endorsement by the GPA, whose containers are managed by the Navis’ terminal operating system.
Navis’ distribution center management client list includes corporations such as Wal-Mart, Coca-Cola Bottling Co., Albertsons, Perdue Farms Inc., Jo-Ann Stores and Dot Foods. In the past year Autozone, Johnson & Johnson, Pep Boys, Academy Sports and Supervalu have also begun using the company’s software.
