Navman expands mobile fleet tracking

   Navman Wireless released an Android version of the mobile app for its OnlineAVL2 fleet tracking system.
   The new app will allow dispatchers, fleet managers, and executives to monitor and manage fleet activities from Android-based smartphones and tablets. The company previously had an app for the iPhone and iPad.
   The app is free of charge to OnlineAVL2 users and will provide companies with mapping, auditing, routing, and messaging options on-the-go to respond to changes in fleet activity. The mapping feature will allow companies to see their fleets, vehicle groups, or individual assets in real-time on Google Maps, which the company said will speed up dispatch and reallocation of assets.
   Part of the service also shows out-of-bounds vehicles or construction equipment and allows the monitoring of previously created geofences and job sites.
   The overall management available includes the ability to review any vehicle’s activity by date, retrace driving routes, pinpoint the time and location of events, and provide new, updated turn-by-turn directions to drivers.
   The back-end OnlineAVL2 application is delivered under the Software-as-a-Service model with no major in-house software installation or maintenance required. The app is now available in the Google Play store.
