New ATA chief reorganizes staff

The Air Transport Association of America said it is shaking up its lobbying team in an effort to increase its influence on policy and legislation.

Sharon Pinkerton was promoted to the new position of senior vice president of legislative and regulatory policy, from vice president of government affairs. She is a former assistant administrator at the Federal Aviation Administration.

The nation's largest airline trade association said it would hire a new senior vice president of global government affairs and add other lobbyists to present the industry's position on aviation issues.

Tom Hendricks was promoted to senior vice president of safety, security and operations, responsible for technical and operational functions at ATA. He joined the organization in June as vice president of operations and safety.

The moves were made by Nicholas Calio, who was selected last month as the group's new president.

Chief Financial Officer Paul Archambeault and General Counsel David Berg were retained on the new leadership team.

As part of the organization, ATA announced that Chief Operating Officer John Meenan and Chief of Staff Patty Higginbotham were let go.
