New berths open at Yantian International Container Terminals    China’s Yantian International Container Terminals today started operations at two new berths with the arrival of the 6,046-TEU vessel “Hatsu Ethic” operated by Evergreen Group carrier Hatsu Marine.
   The berths are 668.8 meters (2,194 feet) in length with a depth alongside of 16 meters (52.5 feet) and a 12.5 hectare container yard. The berths deploy dual-hoist tandem-lift quay cranes with an outreach of 65 meters (213.3 feet), making them able to straddle 23 containers across. The berths are also equipped with “one-over-six” 29-meters-tall (95.1 feet) rubber-tired gantry cranes. The new RTGCs are three meters (9.8 feet) higher than all existing cranes at YICT.
   “These efforts ensure YICT’s ability to meet the changing needs of its customers and the growing deployment of mega-vessels,” YICT said in a statement.
