New customs broker fees due Feb. 1 Customs and Border Protection Miami service Port Director Christopher Maston said the 2008 annual user fee for customs brokers will be due Feb. 1.
   The fee for 2008 is $138 and is assessed for each district permit or national permit held by a broker. The fee should be paid to the port director issuing the permit. The fee is the same rate that took effect last April.
   Any broker that does not pay the fee by Feb. 1 will be notified in writing that the CBP will revoke existing permits. If a permit is revoked, the broker will have to pay an additional $100 on top of the standard fee to get reinstated.
   The fee should be submitted to the Broker Management Unit, Room 161, Cargo Clearance Center, 6601 N.W. 25th St., Miami, FL 33122.
