New foreign trade zone project slated for Puerto Rico

The U.S. Commerce Department's Foreign Trade Zones Board has given interim approval for a new manufacturing facility in the foreign trade zone in Caguas, Puerto Rico.

   The trade zone board gave initial clearance to an application by Merck Sharpe & Dohme Quimica de Puerto Rico Inc. in FTZ 7 at the MOVA Pharmaceutical Corp. pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Caguas, an inland city in Puerto Rico.

   The applicants plan to manufacture two specific pharmaceutical products. The FTZ board will accept public comments on the project through Oct. 2.
