New gate will speed Miami air cargo

The Miami-Dade Aviation Department started use of its new South East Gate Thursday morning, allowing improved access to the airfield and cargo security section.

The new gate has additional access lanes and will reduce traffic backups during peak hours. It will also improve security and provide more space for Aviation Department employees, according to a notice from Lauren Stover, assistant aviation director, security and communications.

With the new gate operational, the old South East Gate will be closed permanently.

Airport users with questions about the new gate should call the on-duty security senior agent at (305) 793-6680.
