New Jersey firm working with German retailer on RFID tags Checkpoint Systems Inc. of Thorofare, N.J., said it would participate in a pilot program set up by German-based Metro Group, one of Europe’s largest retailers, to enhance logistical processes with Asian suppliers.
   The “Tag It Easy” pilot enables the consumer goods industry to apply radio frequency identification labels on shipments from Hong Kong to Germany. The kickoff for 30 key partners took place today at the Hong Kong Science & Technology Park.
   The pilot will run for three months, and the Metro Group expects to extend the project to include several other Asian suppliers at a future date if the concept proves to be feasible.
