New president for Great Wall Airlines

China-based all-cargo airline Great Wall Airlines said Friday that Kuah Boon Kiam will become its new president, effective Oct. 1.

   Kiam, 38, was regional vice president West Asia and Africa with Singapore Airlines Cargo, one of Great Wall’s shareholders.

   A spokesman for Great Wall confirmed to Shippers’ NewsWire that after three years with Great Wall Tan Kai Ping will rejoin Singapore Airlines Cargo.

   Great Wall started operations in 2006 and this summer added U.S. destinations to Seattle and Chicago. The company is owned by the Beijing Aerospace Satellite Applications Corp. (51 percent), part of China Great Wall Industry Corp.; Singapore Airlines Cargo (25 percent); and Dahlia Investments (24 percent), a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore-state-owned Temasek Holdings.
