New ro/ro service for Baltimore

European Red Sea African Lines (ERSAL), part of the Jordan-based Abu Rashed Group, has added calls at the Port of Baltimore to two roll-on/roll-off export services from the U.S. East Coast to Europe and West Africa.

The full rotations of the two ERSAL services calling Baltimore are:

' U.S. to West Africa: Boston, Mass.; Wilmington, Del.; Baltimore; Jacksonville, Fla.; Cotonou, Benin; and Lome, Togo.

' U.S. to Europe: Davisville, R.I.; Baltimore; Kotka and Hamina, Finland. ERSAL serves Russia via Finland.

Ceres Marine Terminal will handle ERSAL’s cargo in Baltimore’s North Locust Point Marine Terminal. The total amount of cargo is expected to be about 20,000 ro/ro units annually, representing three to four vessel calls per month.

According to the Abu Rashed Web site ERSAL also operates a service from the U.S. East Coast (Boston, Wilmington, and Jacksonville) to Beirut and Libya as well as having a Germany/West Africa operation.
