New terminal planned in Honduras

A new $50 million cruise terminal is planned for the island of Roatan in Honduras, according to a report in the Miami Herald.

The report said Miami-based Carnival Corp. plans to build the new facility, which will by able to handle two of its large, post-Panamax cruise ships, which hold around 7,000 passengers each.

The terminal would be built on a 20-acres site, to be called Mahogany Bay. Roatan is 40 miles north on the Honduran mainland in the Caribbean Sea.
