New Web tool for cargo tank compliance

The U.S. Transportation Department’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) said more than 250,000 tank vehicles are in use today and that reporting and record retention are among the top violations this industry faces.
As a result of these violations, eStandard Solutions has developed a set of online tools and compliance databases to help this industry address these issues.
eStandard Solutions developed standardized online forms and reporting tools to promote cargo tank (CT) tests and inspections, as well as creating a database of tank specifications and test/inspection results which are made available to everyone that becomes a member of the service. CT owners must maintain tank-specific records that cover all tests, inspections, and repairs. One of the goals with these Web tools is to standardize those reports and create digital versions that no longer have physical proximity restrictions.
The databases and forms are available on mobile devices, laptops, and PCs, as is access for tank inspectors and consignors to check databases to determine a CT’s current state. The databases can also be setup to send email reminders to notify owners of upcoming inspection requirements.
eStandard Solutions said operating a cargo tank out of compliance leads to severe penalties, so a national database was established to quickly address these issues and help companies verify the status of their tanks.
