New World Alliance tests empty Amsterdam marine terminal

The New World Alliance of APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine and MOL have sent one of their Asia/Europe containerships, the 4,918-TEU “APL Iolite,” to make a call at the idle Ceres Paragon terminal in Amsterdam.

The ship, which called last Saturday, was only the fifth containership to call at the terminal since it opened several years ago.

Ceres Paragon said the New World Alliance has not decided whether it would now call regularly at the facility.

The “APL Iolite” is employed in the alliance’s South China Express weekly service.
