New World Asia/Europe loop to slow steam

A New World Alliance Asia/Europe service has joined the slow-steaming brigade, according to research from American Shipper affiliate ComPair Data.

The service, SCX, is part of an Asia/Europe partnership between alliance carriers APL, Hyundai and MOL and Grand Alliance carriers Hapag-Lloyd, NYK Line and OOCL.

The New World SCX — not to be confused with a Grand Alliance transpacific loop with the same name — now operates with 10 vessels averaging 8,461 TEUs instead of the previous nine. APL provides six ships, including the added vessel, and MOL the other four.

The SCX rotation is Ningbo, Shanghai, Fuqing, Xiamen, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Colombo, Southampton, Zeebrugge, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Salalah, Singapore, Hong Kong and Ningbo. ' Eric Johnson
