New YearÆs resolutions
Leaders for Japanese shipping companies NYK and MOL offered sober market assessments in New Year's addresses. NYK President Yasumi Kudo said his company would focus on building a more stable line of non- asset-based logistics business until freight rates recover for the asset-based side of the company. In a colorful address, MOL President Akimitsu Ashida said its container business should protect itself like a 'rai-cho,' a Japanese snow grouse that 'digs a hole in the snow to stay inside during winter.
