NEW YORK-NEW JERSEY PORT AUTHORITY RELOCATES TO ELIZABETH, N.J.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has moved to temporary offices at 1210 Corbin St., Elizabeth, N.J.

“We have a difficult task ahead, but I’m confidant that we can prevail,” Richard M. Larrabee, director of the port department, told AS+.

The port authority's headquarters and that of the port department were located in One World Trade Center, the north tower.

Computers will be set up shortly in the port authority’s new offices. Meantime, employees are accessing their usual e-mail addresses from off-site computers.

Two phone numbers have been released: (908) 629-5492 for Bill Cronin, and (908) 629-5547, for Frank Billman. Both Cronin and Billman work in the port authority’s strategic analysis and industry relations department.

Other sources said the port authority is likely to move to interim headquarters in New York early in 2002, with one option being that the port authority would build an office tower in the air space above the main bus terminal, at 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue in Manhattan.
