New York terminals raising charges

The five companies that are members of the New York Terminal Conference are raising demurrage rates and dozens of other charges for work they do in the Port of New York and New Jersey.

The changes will go into effect on Oct. 1 at facilities for members American Stevedoring, Global Terminal & Container Services, New York Container Terminal, Port Newark Container Terminal, and Universal Maritime Service Corp., the local affiliate of AP Moller-Maersk’s APM Terminals.

Demurrage charges for dry house containers of all sizes will increase from $98 to $101.50 for one to four days, from $145 to $150 for five to nine days, and from $295 to $303.50 for 10 or more days.

The tariff was last revised in October 2006.
