NFI BUYS CORE CARRIERS

NFI BUYS CORE CARRIERS    NFI, a group of providers of integrated supply chain solutions, announced on Wednesday an agreement to acquire Core Carriers, a Florida-based truckload carrier.
   The purchase is being handled through NFI’s National Freight affiliate.
   “As in NFI’s privately held business culture, Core Carriers is unburdened by extra layers of management bureaucracy that stifle responsiveness,” said Sidney Brown, chief executive officer of NFI.
   Core Carriers’ fleet includes 350 tractors, 150 of them owner-operated and 200 company-owned and 900 trailers. The acquisition increases NFI’s fleet to over 1,700 tractors, 2,000 drivers, and 5,300 trailers.
   NFI, based in Vineland, N.J., includes NFI National Freight, NFI Interactive Logistics, NFI National Distribution Centers, NFI Contract Manufacturing and NFI Real Estate.
