Nielsen named top harbormaster in state

Nielsen named top harbormaster in state Casey Nielsen, operations manager for the Port San Luis Harbor District, has been named as the 2007 state harbormaster of the year by the California Association of Harbor Masters and Port Captains.
   A five-year veteran of the harbor district, Nielsen was nominated for the annual award by his fellow CAHMPC members.
   In presenting the award at the group's annual conference in Emeryville earlier this month, the group cited Nielsen's public-safety leadership, guidance efforts to other ports and harbors; organizational, communication and adaptability skills with the association; and his willingness to provide financial auditing services to the association.
   The Port San Luis Harbor District, which includes the harbors of San Luis and Morro Bay, is the largest independent special district in San Luis Obispo County.
