NIKE PICKS EMERY WORLDWIDE AS LOGISTICS PROVIDER IN SINGAPORE

Nike Inc., the sports footwear and apparel giant, has named Emery
Worldwide as logistics service provider for its distribution center serving
the Singapore market.
Under a two-year contract, valued at nearly $1.78 million, Emery will
manage all inbound shipment clearance, trucking, warehousing and
distribution throughout Singapore. The 27,000-square-foot warehouse is
located at Emery’s new Asia/Pacific area office.
Emery has developed an in-house warehouse management system for Nike,
which will be expanded to include barcode and radio frequency capabilities
by September.
Emery has had an office in Singapore since 1968, and an Asia/Pacific
area headquarters was established there in 1993.
   Emery signed a $2-million contract to manage Nike’s 56,000-square-foot
distribution center in China last November. Nike also awarded Emery a $5
million contract in 1997 to provide air cargo services from North America
to Singapore, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and Malaysia.
