NileDutch is one of the world’s top 25 container and breakbulk shipping companies, providing liner services between West African ports and Europe, South Africa, South America, North America and Asia.
“Managing fleet and container utilization against a backdrop of fluctuating demand in today’s highly complex market can be challenging,” said Mark Kraaijenbrink, director of information and communications Technology for NileDutch. “We are always seeking innovative solutions to gain a competitive edge, and ClearMetal’s machine learning technology for predictive logistics appears to provide a significant advantage over any other industry methods and tools we’ve seen.”
The carrier intends to use ClearMetal’s predictive platform to improve container flow and vessel fleet utilization through advanced prediction of customer bookings and container flow movements.
ClearMetal’s Data Intelligence Platform allows carriers to better understand their own supply chain data; predict based on granular supply chain performance history, data and patterns; and use deep simulation outputs to predict container supply and demand, as well as freight forwarder and shipper behaviors.
ClearMetal’s platform also has uses for shippers and forwarders. The company told the TPM 2017 Conference in late February that it is is working on a booking allocation management pilot project for Panalpina and a street turn identification pilot for Expeditors.
“We are taking a fundamentally different approach to helping our customers understand and navigate the global trade network,” ClearMetal CEO Adam Compain said. “We’re excited to partner with NileDutch to deliver differentiated technology that further accelerates the company’s growth and profitability, while becoming a more effective partner to its customers.”
American Shipper profiled ClearMetal in its October cover story.
