Nimetz will return to N.Y-N.J. Port Authority

Nimetz will return to N.Y-N.J. Port Authority New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer said he will nominate Matthew Nimetz, managing director of the private equity firm General Atlantic, to serve as a commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
   Nimetz has been at General Atlantic since January 2000. Prior to that he was a partner and chairman at the big New York law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, where he concentrated on corporate and international law.
   Nimetz returns to the port authority, after previously served as a commissioner in 1975-1977.
   Nimetz has had several other public sector positions, including stints as under secretary of state for security assistance, science and technology, and as counselor of the State Department.
   From 1994 to 1995, Nimetz served as President Clinton’s special envoy in the mediation of a dispute between Greece and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and was later appointed as the special representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in connection with the continuing negotiations between those two countries. He continues to serve in that capacity.
