He replaces Van L. Hayes Jr., head of transportation for Vulcan Materials Co.
Pellington, a long-time member of the league, will serve a two-year term.
Pellington said one of his biggest focuses would be to increase the organization's membership. The NIT League's Vision 2020 plan, which was announced at last year's International Intermodal Expo, opens the nearly century-old shipper group's membership to carriers and other shipping interests.
Other senior NIT League officers elected Monday were: Michael J. Barr, associate director of global cross-border organization, for Procter & Gamble Co., first vice chairman; John B. Ficker, logistics development manager, Wayerhaeuser Co., second vice chairman; Curt Warfel, manager of customer service and logistics, Eka Chemicals, third vice chairman; and Mark Maleski, international logistics manager, JCP Logistics, treasurer.
