The two ships are part of a 12-ship order valued at $1.2 billion to be built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co.
When the company first announced the order on July 21, it said it was buying 10 8,400 TEU ships, with an option to purchase the larger ships. It signed the contract for the two 10,700-TEU vessels in a ceremony in Seoul.
