Norasia’s Safdar leaves to join former CEO’s new venture

Norasia Container Lines’ head of marketing Jamshed Safdar has resigned to join the company’s former chief executive officer Vikas Khan’s start-up ocean carrier Emirates Shipping Lines.

Earlier reports suggest that the new venture will provide a service using 3,000-TEU ships between the United States, India, Middle East and the Mediterranean.

Khan quit as Norasia’s CEO in June. Since then, rumors have circulated that the Hong Kong-based Norasia will be absorbed into its Chilean parent company Compania Sud Americana de Vapores.

Safdar will leave Norasia Feb 2. “A few things have been planned out in terms of launches in the short term and I will be speaking to you at some point with more details,” Safdar told American Shipper.
