Norfolk Southern make five senior appointments

   Norfolk Southern Corp. has announced five immediate senior appointments to its marketing, strategic planning and operations departments.

   Michael R. McClellan was named vice president automotive and intermodal marketing. McClellan has been with the company since 1998 and was vice president intermodal marketing.

   David F. Julian has been appointed president automotive and supply chain services, reporting to McClellan. He joined Norfolk Southern in 1971 and was group vice president automotive.

   David T. Lawson, formerly president of Modalgistics, is vice president industrial products, responsible for marketing Norfolk Southern’s services to shippers and receivers of chemicals, metals and construction materials, paper and forest products, agriculture and consumer products and government materials.

   David A. Brown has been named vice president strategic planning. He joined Norfolk Southern in 1981 and was general manager Northern Region.

   Bob A. Bartle, formerly Brown’s assistant, has been promoted to general manager Northern Region responsible for transportation operations over Norfolk Southern’s Harrisburg , Pittsburgh and Dearborn operations divisions.
