NORTH EUROPE/CANADA CONFERENCES RAISES WESTBOUND RATES    The Canadian Westbound Conferences have announced a plan to raise westbound rates from northern Europe to Canada on Oct. 1.
   The increases will be $60 (U.S.) per 20-foot container and $100 per 40-foot box.
   The conferences said in a joint statement that “westbound market conditions remain firm” and there is a “continuing need for revenue restoration” for its shipping line members.
   The same increases will be applied on Jan. 1, 2002 to any westbound business which has end-year validity, the conferences said.
         The members of the north Europe/Canada conferences are Atlantic Container Line, Canada Maritime, Cast, Hapag-Lloyd and Orient Overseas Container Line.
