NWA Cargo raises fuel surcharge
NWA Cargo, the cargo subsidiary of Northwest Airlines, is the latest airline to announce an increase in its fuel surcharge in response to rising fuel prices.
Effective Oct. 25, NWA Cargo’s surcharge will increase to 35 cents per kilogram from 30 cents for most U.S.-origin international shipments. The fuel surcharge will also be adjusted for most non-U.S. origin shipments unless it is not permitted for regulatory reasons, the air cargo operator said.
On the same day, the surcharge will increase to 16 cents a pound from 11 cents for all domestic shipments.
NWA Cargo adjusts surcharges based on a weekly average index that takes into account fuel prices around the world.
