NYK adds Fos, La Spezia to ISPS surcharge list
NYK Line is adding the ports of La Spezia and Fos to its list of European and Mediterranean ports subject to a carrier security surcharge, designed to offset the cost of implementing the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code of the International Maritime Organization.
Effective Jan. 1, the security surcharge for La Spezia and Fos will be 12 euros ($15.90) per container. This is the same amount applied to cargo moving to and from Antwerp, Bremerhaven, Hamburg and Rotterdam. The cost charge applied to Le Havre cargo is 5 euros ($6.60).
