NYK LINE JOINS THREE SHIPPING PORTALS

NYK LINE JOINS THREE SHIPPING PORTALS

NYK Line, the Tokyo-based container line, said Monday it will join all three ocean shipping industry electronic commerce portals: GT Nexus, INTTRA, and CargoSmart.

“Although many others carriers are members of one of the three, NYK Line will be the first carrier to join multiple portals,” NYK said in a company statement.

“We believe that customers should be the center of e-commerce initiatives,” said Tsunenari Tokugawa, executive vice president of NYK Line.

The Japanese carrier cited Pegasus, its own Internet and e-commerce initiative, as the technology that enabled NYK to link compatibly with GT Nexus, INTTRA and CargoSmart.

“For the last two years, NYK has invested substantially to become more competitive in the world of e-commerce,” said Yutaka Yasunaga, chief information officer of NYK Line (North America) Inc. “This effort … coupled with the sophisticated technical teams of the other industry portals, should enable a smooth integration of all systems.”
