NYK rolls India car services into subsidiary    The NYK Group has recently reorganized its India-based affiliates, moving the Japanese group's finished-car services from the liner carrier business to its auto logistics business.
   At the start of October, the finished-car services previously under NYK Line (India) Ltd. were transferred to NYK Auto Logistics (India), or NALI, which is in charge of NYK's non-liner-trade services in India.
   NYK said the transferred services will include:
   ' Consolidating representation for car carriers.
   ' Inland transport services, including pre-delivery inspection and vehicle distribution center.
   ' Administrative work for Conyk Cartrace, a rail-based automobile-transport company jointly established last year with the state-owned Container Corp. of India.
   'NALI had already been transporting finished cars by car trailers, and its handling of all finished-car-related business in India allows us to integrate customer relations and meet the rapidly expanding needs of various customers for finished-car transport in India,' NYK said in a statement. 'The integration, added to the NYK Group's ocean transport, means that the NYK Group can lay out a framework for providing services more comprehensively, from value-added services such as PDI operations at terminals, to logistics solutions that include inland transport by car trailers and railways.'
   NYK said the automobile market in India is developing rapidly, with unit sales in the domestic market at about 1.3 million in 2004, but expected to surpass 3 million in 2011 and 4 million annually by 2016.
