'In 1959, NYK appointed James Finlay Ltd. as its regional shipping agent in Pakistan to chiefly handle container and car transport business activities,' NYK said in a statement. 'The annual container handling volume at the port of Karachi has since reached 1 million TEUs, and growth is expected to continue. The purpose of the establishment of this local company is to respond to increasing demand in this region. Pakistan is also known as the gate port to countries in central Asia, and this local company will allow us to better respond to customer needs in this region.
The Pakistan subsidiary is NYK's 13th regional shipping agent in Asia.
